Overboard

October 10, 2018 by Brian Ravenswood

Last night I was listening to an interview with an author who wrote a book on serial killer Ted Bundy. The worst of the worst in the serial killer hall of fame. He had audio from an interview he did with a woman who survived one of Bundy’s attacks.

She was a hitchhiker who foolishly got in Bundy’s car when he offered her a ride home. She got nervous when he took the wrong street and then parked in a secluded area. At which point he turned to her and said, “I’m going to kill you now.” What happened next was absolutely horrific.

I listened to this woman tell her personal story of what had to be the most traumatic event of her entire life. An encounter with evil that undoubtedly left deep psychological scars. Scars needing years to deal with. I noticed she was calm, unemotional and very matter-of-fact about what happened. She did not speak in a quivering, little girl voice. She did not act damaged and fragile. She talked like someone who had something horrible happen to her and moved on with her life. She sounded courageous and believable.

Unlike Christine Blasey Ford.

It then occurred to me I use to watch a television show entitled, “I Survived.” Every episode interviewed someone who survived an excruciatingly horrible event that almost killed them. It was literally a miracle each one lived at all. Many of the subjects interviewed were women who survived being brutally sexually assaulted by violent criminals. Many were stabbed dozens of times and left for dead in a forest, miles from help. These women somehow crawled out of the woods and were rescued. All of them had accepted death because it was clear they would not live to see their families again.

I don’t remember one of these women speaking in this fragile, “I’m a china doll about to break” voice or acting like they were some pathetic basket case who needed to be treated with kid gloves. The majority of had survived a crime from ten to fifteen years earlier. Not thirty-six. They indeed became emotional during their interview but only when reliving the most nightmarish parts of what happened to them. Each woman was CLEARLY in pain but maintained a certain level of dignity while recounting her tale of horror.

Once again, unlike Christine Blasey Ford. I would have found her much more credible had she dropped the entire “wounded bird” act and just spoken like the educated adult she is supposed to be.

Benefit of the Doubt…

October 1, 2018 by Brian Ravenswood

At first, I was willing to give Dr. Christine Ford the benefit of the doubt. I think something terrible did happen to her but time and trauma have left her memory faulty. It’s not unheard of for crime victims to identify the wrong person as their assailant.

But then I watched Stefan Molyneux’s take on the Kavanaugh hearings, and now I’m scratching my head. He has a lot of good points. According to her, this happened almost 40 years ago, and yet she shows up at the hearing acting like a fragile, damaged child who is made of porcelain, talking in that ‘little girl’ voice pushing the narrative she is a severely damaged adult.

It’s as if this alleged assault took place last week and not in the early 80’s.

So the Democrats are implying this incident had such a horrific impact on Dr. Ford’s life that she never recovered. Even decades later!

And yet we are supposed to believe absolutely NO ONE noticed this back in the 80’s when it happened?!!! If she was so damaged and traumatized wouldn’t it have been blazingly obvious to her friends and family at the time?!! Didn’t her parents ask her, “Hey, what’s with this talking like a little girl voice you’ve been doing since last Saturday night? It’s freaking me out. Are you ok?”

Young children are prone to hysteria; this is undoubtedly true for teenagers. She claims she was 15 when this assault happened. A crime so devastating she’s still dealing with the traumatic effects 36 years later. And yet immediately after this alleged attack, she went downstairs to leave, passing her “best friend” in the living room. Wasn’t she crying? Shaken up? In tears? Hysterical?

She also left her “best friend” alone in this house full of drunk, dangerous rapists. Remember, according to her testimony Ford was one of two girls at this party. By leaving she put her friend in one vulnerable position. It’s just a little hard to believe she didn’t grab her friend on her way out of the house and say, “C’mon! We are leaving!”

I’ve been alive a long time and know how people act in certain situations. This does not add up.

And how about the next day? Didn’t her parents notice a change in her behavior? Wasn’t she withdrawn or acting differently? Did she begin to exhibit signs of depression over the coming weeks?

Remember, according to her story she wasn’t actually raped. It was either attempted rape or a sever groping. Either one is something a 15 girl should never have to experience in her lifetime, but I’ve seen interviews with actual rape survivors. Women who’ve experienced far worst and they do not speak with this fragile tone of voice or natural effect.

By pushing these allegations, the Democrats have made a mockery of sexual assault and its victims. They claim to have the best interests of victims at heart but in actuality will turn anything they can into a political baseball bat to club their opposition with.

Quite frankly, it’s disgusting.

Are you kidding me?

September 28, 2018 by Brian Ravenswood

Julie SwetnickAfter reading Julie Swetnick’s account of what she claimed happened, I am stunned that anyone would concoct such a BIZARRE story with the belief and intention it be taken seriously.

She graduated High School in 1980 and yet attended parties thrown by High School students from 1981 to 1983? The story almost falls apart right then and there. No college girl would be caught dead at a High School party.

She then claims multiple gang rapes were occurring at these parties she was completely aware of. And yet, not only did she continue to attend these parties but did absolutely NOTHING to stop what was happening! She never went to the police or parents or anyone in authority to report what she had seen! And even more BIZARRE she kept attending these parties until she eventually being gang-raped herself! THIS BOGGLES THE MIND! And to make matters more bizarre, she never went to the police and reported the crime?

Why not? If what she is saying is true there have to be at least a dozen other victims of this crime. Victims who would have eventually been revealed by a police investigation and backed up her story.

Saying a gang of centaurs had attacked her would almost sound more believable.

As Tucker Carlson said, these allegations rise to the level of war crimes, these are the types of atrocities the United Nations is called into investigating as massive human rights violations. And yet we are supposed to believe all this happened in Maryland during the early 80’s and not one human being spoke up to expose it?

It’s one thing to lie; it’s another to be so detached from reality you make no effort to have that lie sound plausible. If a Cop pulled me over for speeding and asked why I was driving so fast, I could think of a lie that seems believable. Something like, “Oh, sorry Officer, my wife is having a baby, and I had to get to the hospital.” OK, fine, sounds reasonable. But if I instead said, “Oh Officer, thank God you came along. A vicious motorcycle gang was chasing me.” I’d sound like a complete idiot, mainly because the Cop could see there was no motorcycle gang.

But if I told a Police Officer that lie believing he’d fall for it, what would that say about me? The story is so ridiculous it doesn’t deserve consideration. Yet how could I not be aware of such an obvious fact?

I’ve always considered the Left Wing mind chaotic, but this sets a new level of disaster think.

How are these people even a political party?

School Shootings: My Solutions

September 16, 2018 by Brian Ravenswood

Before the horrible events of February 14th, I was ambivalent as to what to do about these mass shootings in schools. But now I am forced acknowledge an unpleasant reality; mass shootings have now become an unfortunate, ugly fact of life.

I don’t want it to be true, but it is. We have to face facts; this is going to happen again. And again, and again. And once we admit it will happen again, it is our moral duty to PREPARE for it, not PREVENT it. Why do I say that? Because preventing these types of mass killings all rests on theoretical solutions.

In other words, one Senator has a THEORY we can prevent this from happening with stricter gun legislation. An Activist has a THEORY we can avoid this with more funding for mental health clinics. A college professor had a THEORY this is all caused by psychotropic drugs. Look, we honestly don’t know why this happens so how exactly do we fix it? Do we go right to the source of the problem? How when we don’t even know what that source is?

I’ve heard a THEORY these mass shootings are a direct result of so many fatherless homes. Part of me agrees with this but here’s the thing, so what? If fatherless households are the problem, then I don’t see this issue turning around anytime soon. What it would take to reverse this demographic trend is beyond me and even if some genius came up with the solution how long would it take it to implement and fix the problem? Fifty years? Your guess is as good as mine.

These are all theories. Educated guesses. Quite frankly, shots in the dark.

While Scientists and Social Workers try to figure out where this type of insanity comes from the rest of us can take steps to prepare for it. Because like I said, THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

I’d love to hear feedback from others with sound reasoning to improve what I have written here because, so far, singing ‘Imagine’ a couple of hundred times while holding a candle hasn’t worked out all that great.

Why do we have smoke alarms, sprinklers and fire extinguishers in schools? To prepare for the possible disaster a fire might break out and, if one does, shorten its duration. Thereby saving lives. Do we waste our time demanding laws are passed, and regulations tightened on anything that’s flammable? In a ridiculous attempt to make sure a fire “never happens again?” No, that’s absurd. We acknowledged the fact we can’t live in a fireproof world years ago and dealt with that reality.

With that being said here is my plan for dealing with future mass shootings in our public schools;

  1. No one should be able to enter a school at will if they are not a student or employee. Some system must be in place, so anyone entering a school needs permission first from the main office. The technology exists to accomplish this with intercoms and security cameras easily.
  2. If possible, doors should be constructed to be bulletproof. I don’t know what it would take to accomplish this but if a teacher could close the door to a classroom and lock it knowing a shooter cannot possibly get in that would at least ensure the safety of the students inside.
  3. At least 15 to 20 members of the faculty and staff of every school should have immediate access to a firearm. Along with professional training from the Police Department or some other worthy institution.
  4. The local police department will have a list on hand with all the names and cell phone numbers of every armed staff member along with their photograph. This document will be available in the event of an emergency.
  5. Every staff member will have an emergency APP on their phone alerting them to the danger. Maybe even updating them on the current location of the shooter. This APP would enable staff to coordinate with one another quickly and QUIETLY. For example; if a teacher is hiding behind a desk they could text their location and situation to others without making a sound.

I said faculty and staff should have immediate access to firearms. That doesn’t mean ‘Conceal & Carry.’ Much the same way a fire hose is behind glass marked, “In case of Fire Break Glass,” all sanctioned weapons on school grounds should be stored in individual lock boxes, possibly hidden in teacher’s desks. Perhaps some other spot in a classroom, as long as sanctioned personal can get to them quickly in case of emergency. Selected staff members would have a key to these lock boxes. For safety reasons every gun may have a trigger lock as well, but this is a side issue. The chosen staff members would have all the keys necessary to unlock the hidden firearm and be ready to defend children within a minute with the proper training.

More weapons can be stored in the teacher’s lounge or principal office. Along with protective gear.

Obviously, there must be some system in place to alert all personal there is an Active Shooter on campus. Possibly a specific sounding siren. We have the technology to make coordination between armed personnel possible with the emergency APP I mentioned before. Upon hearing this alarm all faculty and staff would activate this APP on their phones. Then follow established emergency procedures for dealing with an active shooter situation. What these procedures are will have to be determined by the school system and the county.

It should be a known fact to the student body that 15 to 20 adults in their school are armed and trained for action but not know who they are. The identities of the armed and trained staff members must remain a secret, so a potential shooter does not know who is and isn’t armed. This will make planning a possible assault much more difficult.

Here is my reasoning. If a deranged human being wants to commit a mass killing, he will be forced to evaluate targets. If he knows there are 20 armed and trained staff at a school, it will be apparent the likelihood of success is vastly reduced. If the goal is to kill as many people as possible, then the school no longer poses a ripe target. It will merely be scratched off the list of potential targets.

You may call me naive, but even deranged maniacs tend to think in tactical, black & white terms. If your goal is a massive death toll and terror then attacking a school will become a less likely option. After all, you might take out one or two armed staff members, but that still leaves you heavily outgunned and guarantees failure. It’s just simple math. One person with a gun cannot defeat twenty with a gun.

Spare me the “what if this” and “what if that” scenarios. My logic is sound. A mass shooter will look for a “soft target.” If a school no longer fits in that category, it loses all appeal. These guys are out for carnage and ABOVE ALL ELSE FAME. Even the slightest chance a librarian or school custodian could drop them is enough to dent their already damaged psyche.

There should be no debate on this. Rather than endless discussion, everything I said should be tried first as a test case. For example, let’s say twenty states implement my plan. After five to ten years we’ll see how many mass school shootings happen in those states and how many happen in others.

If I am wrong and there is no change then so be it. We abandon the plan and look for another solution.

If I am right and we see a difference (or specifically a mass shooter is stopped quickly), then we admit this works and use it nationwide.

Let’s just TRY IT instead of endless bickering and magical ‘pie in the sky’ theories!

And do I believe my plan is perfect? NO, absolutely not. In fact, I’m confident it has flaws, and there are things I overlooked. If you see one, please point it out. OIt is obvious this idea, like any other, needs work. I’d love to hear feedback from others with sound reasoning to improve what I have written here because, so far, singing ‘Imagine’ a couple of hundred times while holding a candle hasn’t worked out all that great. Let’s get real people.

Comedy Shows: A Rant

August 18, 2018 by Brian Ravenswood

I’ve been to a bunch of stand-up shows in the last two weeks, and you know what BUGS THE CRAP OUT OF ME?!!!

#1) Comics who say the word ‘Vagina’ over and over and over again because they can’t write anything original and think it’s good for a laugh. Plus they think it makes them, “Edgy.” Guess what? It was considered dangerous and edgy to say Vagina in the 80’s (like around 1981). That was over 35 years ago. Try writing some MATERIAL instead!

And no, I’m NOT a prude! I love raunchy humor! But it’s got to be clever. Have some kind of hook to it. We’re not in the third grade anymore where you can just say “bad words” on the playground and get a laugh. If you really are funny then THINK OF SOMETHING!

#2) White Comedians talking about how much white people suck, in a pathetic attempt to look relevant and topical but failing miserably in both regards. Instead, they come off looking like people with a DESPERATE need to sound interesting. They look like someone who never matured past freshman year of college. Like those sycophants on MTV’s ‘The Real World’ who talk to their African American roommates in this demeaning and condescending manner. Lapsing into ebonics whenever speaking to them because they speak, “their language.” It’s insulting.

You don’t sound cool or “street.” It comes across as, “I’zz wich cho people boy.”

It’s sad and very, very pathetic.

You think you’re above it all and see how evil white people are. But hey, you’re not one of them. In fact, if you’d been alive in 1840, you would have been part of the Underground Railroad and hid runaway slaves from their masters. If I were black and in the audience, I’d be offended because I’m being talked down to.

Here’s your message, “Hey African American person, I’m one of the good ones. Don’t judge me cause I’m white. I like Dr. King! I really do!” Try looking up, ‘Pretentious’ in the dictionary loser!

You want to come across as sympathetic and worldly, but instead, you look like a parasite living on the back of a maggot.

#3) Black Comedians talking about how the police might shoot them on any given day of the week just for “being black.” Statics say the odds of you being shot by one of your “Brothers” is ASTRONOMICALLY higher than being shot by a police officer. So considering that fact why don’t you belabor that point instead? Quite frankly it disgusts me to sit and watch you pretend this isn’t a fact of life in the inner city. I feel like I’m enabling your delusions and partaking in your self-destruction. And it makes me sick. That’s not the reason I go to a comedy club.

#4) Black Comedians talking about how they might be sent to prison “just because they’re black.” (See above)

#5) Black Comedians still doing lame impressions of Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy. Those guys were geniuses who elevated the art form and charged it forever. Leaving an impact that’s undeniable. Watching you pretend to be them is sad, feeble and, above all else, pathetic!

And please, for God’s sake, can we drop the, “did you ever notice black people and white people do the same things differently” routine?! Enough already! There are snow tires in Alaska that have been used less than that bit! Let it die!

#6) Hispanic/Latino/Mexican Comedians only talking about being Hispanic/Latino/Mexican ad nauseam. Spare me the ‘racist’ label. My girlfriend was born and raised in Mexico. Her kids, who I love to death, are Mexican. It’s boring guys! When a Latin Comic gets onstage and immediately starts with, “You know what sucks about being Latino?” I go to sleep. It’s dull; it’s been done before. It’s SO tired and stale.

I was in a comedy club a few weeks ago, and the entire audience was CLEARLY made up of white, hipster douche bags, but that didn’t stop this Latin Comic from getting up onstage and opening with, “Let me hear a shout out from my Mexican Hommies!” Which was met with DEAD SILENCE, mainly because none of his “Hommies” were in the audience!

Face facts my Latin “Brother,” the only people going to an open mic night at 9 p.m. on a Tuesday are Twenty-Something Millennials with no kids or responsibilities. Your “Hommies” were home couch surfing. Oh, and thanks for calling our attention to your racial makeup because that’s really important. I go to a Comedy Show to laugh. God forbid I shouldn’t think about race for maybe forty minutes and enjoy myself. No, thanks to you racial identity was brought right back into center square! Thank you so much you sorry ass excuse for a wannabe Comedian!

One of the jobs of a Comedian is to gauge the audience and get a feel for the crowd. Or I should say a “Professional Comedian,” which this guy wasn’t.

One of the single greatest standup comedians who ever lived was Columbian. But you know what made him different? He wrote JOKES! REAL JOKES! About everything! He made me laugh so hard I cried. I worshipped the ground he walked on because he was a Comedian, a REAL Comedian. And an expert at this craft. Get some talent Bozo!

P.S. Hey Muchacho! Why do all Hispanic/Latino/Mexican Comedians write derogatory jokes about Hispanic/Latino/Mexicans? I don’t get it. If a white comedian did material on how Hispanic/Latino/Mexican’s front yards always look like shit, he’d be called a racist. But that’s all Hispanic/Latino/Mexican Comics ever do! Rank on their own kind with tons of negative stereotypes! Why is that funny?
